A trio of depressing books that I read as a teenager

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Joanne Greenberg
A teenage girl struggles with schizophrenia while undergoing treatment in a mental institution.

Lisa, Bright and Dark by John Neufeld
A teenage girl struggles with depression while being supported by her three best friends.

The Summer Before by Patricia Windsor
A teenage girl struggles to accept reality and understand her parents following the death of her best friend.

Anyone else notice a trend here?  Does anyone write this sort of stuff for teenagers anymore?  Or is it all sparkly vampires now.
