Have You Done Your Duty Today?

Duty is a very underrated virtue.  It used to be extremely popular during the Victorian Age, so much so that Gilbert & Sullivan wrote a hilarious musical, The Pirates of Penzance, about it.  The older I get, the more I appreciate people who have a strong sense of duty.  So have you done your civic duty today and voted?

I voted for the first time in my first year of college.  It was a provincial election and since I was going to school in Saskatchewan, I had to vote by mail-in ballot.  I've only missed voting in one election since I turned 18.  I was pregnant with my oldest and also had the stomach flu.  I had the misfortune of puking straight through the polling stations hours, from start to finish.  Instead of voting I spent the entire day on the bathroom floor.

Now I feel like watching the Pirates of Penzance...
